About Machina

Founded in Edinburgh in 2013, Machina is an independent speciality coffee roastery with its roots firmly in the city.

Born from a shared love of coffee and music, Machina set out to make speciality coffee engaging, accessible and genuinely enjoyable. Today, its coffee is roasted in Edinburgh on traditional Probat drum roasters, combining old-school craft with modern technology and a meticulous approach to quality.

Machina works with carefully selected coffee suppliers who share its commitment to quality, ethical sourcing and long-term relationships with producers at origin.

Clockwork is the signature all-rounder—versatile across brewing styles with balanced body, sweetness, and bright acidity. A blend of naturally processed Brazilian Bossa Nova and washed Colombian Mujeres, it works beautifully black or white, from flat whites to cafetières.

Vox Pop is the house secret weapon for espresso lovers seeking traditional Italian character. Built entirely from high-grade speciality beans, it delivers a rich, viscous body, intense spicy notes, and caramel sweetness that cuts cleanly through milk.

Bossa Nova stands alone as a smooth, creamy single-origin Brazilian. Naturally processed and packed with milk chocolate, toffee, and hazelnut notes, it's an approachable, easy-going coffee that shines in any preparation.

Index is the most accessible and forgiving option—more caramelised and dense but low in acidity, with dark chocolate, plum, and pecan flavours. A three-lot blend featuring Bossa Nova, Indonesian Mandheling, and Ugandan Karambi, it performs exceptionally well across all espresso machines.
